Why shouldn’t sellers have their suppliers send their inventory directly to Amazon? Some sellers like to check products themselves, send only a limited amount of inventory to Amazon at a time to control FBA storage costs, or for a variety of other reasons.

Sellers going down this route need to know how to get their products to Amazon’s warehouses when they’re ready. So how do you set up FBA shipments to bring your inventory to Amazon warehouses?

Navigating Seller Central and setting up your first FBA shipment can be a daunting task for a brand new Amazon seller.

Creating a shipping plan is the first step in shipping your items to Amazon. Shipping plans are determined:

  1. Products you send to Amazon
  2. Quantity Per Product
  3. Your shipping method and carrier
  4. Who is responsible for product preparation and labeling (you or Amazon)

If you are shipping a private label product, you must create a listing for that product before creating a shipping order. Shipping orders are linked directly to quotes – when you create that quote, you can create your shipping plan if it doesn’t already exist. If you haven’t created a listing, log in to Seller Central and go to Inventory > Manage Inventory. From there, you can add products to your account by clicking Add Products in the top right corner of the page. Once you’ve added your product and filled in all the relevant information for that product, your quote is complete!

Once done, you can create your shipping plan. Go to the Manage Inventory page and select each item you want to ship to Amazon. Select Send/Replenish Inventory from the Action on Selected drop-down menu. Here you can create a new shipping plan or add to an existing plan.

Next, verify your shipping address. This is where you ship your products, so it could be your home, your business, or your suppliers. For example, if your product is shipped from a Chinese manufacturer, you must enter the manufacturer’s address here.

Next, confirm the packaging type. A single product is a single product of different qualities and characteristics, and a cardboard package is the same item in the same condition. Typically, arbitrage sellers create shipping schedules for individual products, while most private label sellers create shipping schedules for boxes. In each of the above cases, an arbitrage seller might have many different items in a box and ship to Amazon (single product), while a private label seller might ship many of the same items to Amazon (crate).

Click Continue Shipping Program. You can now complete the 6 main steps sellers must follow to complete a shipping plan. These steps and other important things to consider are detailed below.

Step 1: Determine Quantity

Setting up a quantity is the first step in completing the Amazon FBA shipping program. Enter all the inventory you have in stock and want to ship

At this point, you may receive one of the following notifications:

At this point, you may receive one of the following notifications:

  1. Required Information: This product requires additional information
  2. Removal Required: The item needs to be removed from the shipping plan
  3. Recommended Action: Amazon has identified this product as slow selling and recommended its removal
  4. Excessive inventory: Your inventory exceeds the recommended quantity

Suggested actions and backlog warnings can be bypassed by indicating that you have acknowledged the warning. Before proceeding, please ensure that all products you wish to remove have been removed.

Step 2: Prepare the Products

As mentioned earlier, Amazon requires products to be ready to meet their standards. Even if you choose to have Amazon prepare and label your products for you and pay a per-item fee, you still need to ship them securely to the warehouse.

This may require additional packaging material, so be sure to review all packaging and preparation requirements for shipping FBA inventory.Download File

If you haven’t chosen Amazon to prepare your products, you’ll have to do it yourself. Follow all FBA preparation requirements or face unplanned preparation costs. Many sellers’ products are prepared by the manufacturer or carrier to save time and money. If you ask the manufacturer or carrier to do so, make sure they understand the policies and requirements for FBA preparation.

The Prep Required tab on the Prep Products page provides instructions for preparing products with specified prep requirements. You may need to use:

  1. Plastic bag
  2. Bubble wrap
  3. Opaque pocket
  4. Adhesive tape

If the preparation instructions are unknown, the product will appear under the “May require preparation” tab. Select the appropriate product category to determine if additional preparation is required. If you want to continue, click Next.

Step 3: Label the Products

Amazon uses a barcode system to store and track products. Therefore, according to Amazon standards, all FBA items must be properly labeled unless they are eligible for mixed inventory without stickers. Your labeling options for shipping to Amazon FBA include:

  1. Use existing UPC or EAN barcodes for eligible products
  2. Add Amazon barcodes directly to products or packaging
  3. Pay per item FBA labeling service fee and apply Amazon barcode for you

All products requiring labeling are displayed on the label requiring labeling. If you selected Amazon in the Who Labels column, you must use the FBA labeling service. Any charges incurred are shown in the Label Cost column. If retailers are selected under Who flags, you must flag these items yourself.

Once this information is set, the barcode can be created. Click the Print this page tab and make your selections. A PDF will be generated.

Make sure you meet all barcode requirements for FBA products. These detail everything from using the correct printer and paper to correctly placing labels. When selling a manufacturer’s product, many sellers print the label directly on the packaging or product. This saves sellers time and money, so we definitely recommend considering it as an option. Manufacturers must continue to follow FBA labeling/printing guidelines.

Step 4: Review Your Shipment

Double check your shipment. Pay close attention to your shipment ID and destination fulfillment center code and location, as your plan may require multiple shipments to be shipped to different warehouses.

Your shipment will get the shipment name, but it can be changed. You can also view the number of MSKUs (Unique Product Identifiers) and the number of each MSKU in the shipment.

Remember that any changes you make here will affect your packing list. It is best to print the packing slip after you approve the shipping plan.

After the shipment is approved, the View Shipment page appears. Your shipping plan is now set up and your shipment needs to be sent to the designated Amazon fulfillment center. Click Edit Shipment to continue.

Step 5: Prepare Your Shipment

On the Prepare Shipment page, you can now:

  1. Select your shipping method and carrier
  2. Determine the number of boxes needed for shipping
  3. Schedule and pay for a shipment
  4. Print box labels

When shipping to Amazon FBA, it’s important to meet all shipment packing requirements. Minor modifications can still be made to your shipping plan, but there’s a limit. If more changes are needed, it’s better to cancel or recreate the plan or delete the shipment.

A small parcel delivery (SPD) is for items packed in individual boxes. Less Than Truckload (LTL) refers to cases or boxes that are stacked and/or secured on pallets. And unlike an LTL truck which may have to stop for other deliveries, a Full Truckload (FTL) goes right to the fulfillment center.

Many Private Label sellers fall into shipping using LTL, as many do not yet produce enough inventory to fill an entire truckload shipment (FTL). Make sure you are aware of which category you fall into here. Confirming with either your manufacturer or Freight Forwarder will give you insight into this!

Step 6: Summary

he summary page is the last step in the Amazon shipment creation workflow. It provides an overview of your shipment, available tracking tools and planned receipt status. This page has 3 tabs, which are detailed by Amazon under Seller Central:

Once the product is in received status, it will be active on your listing and available for purchase. Your order fulfillment is now handled by Amazon’s FBA team.

SHIPPING TO AMAZON FBA – Best Three Shipping Methods

Shipping your products to Amazon FBA boils down to two options: you can ship your items directly from China to an Amazon FBA warehouse, or ship to yourself or a 3PL and then ship to Amazon FBA.

If you are shipping directly from China, you must instruct your Chinese supplier to fully prepare your shipment in accordance with FBA specifications. This is usually not a problem, but can sometimes be a challenge. if you have usa

A third-party logistics (3PL) provider or yourself (if located in the U.S.) can split a consolidated shipment from China into smaller packages, perform quality checks, and prepare for FBA. However, using a 3PL will cost more money.

We know that time is of the essence when shipping from China to Amazon FBA. If you have a small physical quantity and less than $800, you can ship directly from China to Amazon FBA.

If you have previous experience shipping from China to Amazon FBA, this may be cheaper than using a 3PL. Also, if you (with your supplier or alone) have years of experience shipping from China to Amazon FBA and/or have used a 3PL company in China, then you can ship directly from China.

1.Express shipping to Amazon FBA

Express delivery is the most convenient and easiest way for recipients. All he has to do is sign for the goods when they arrive. Shipping companies also handle import procedures. There are many courier companies around the world such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and other smaller companies.

We recommend FedEx and UPS as they have a strong network in the US and almost no shipping delays.

When to use express?

If your shipment weighs 1000 pounds or less, you can choose expedited shipping. (less than 500 kg). With this shipping method, it usually takes 3 to 7 days for your shipment to arrive in the US from China, depending on the location.

This is the best shipping method if you are trying to import a 100kg item to Amazon for the first time.

Air and sea freight are available for larger quantities (over 500kg). There are a lot of flat fees for both shipping methods, so you’ll end up spending more than expedited shipping.

Note: As this shipping method is by air, products containing lithium batteries, liquids or powders are not allowed. However, there are some Chinese courier agents in the market that can help you ship these items, but at a cost of 50-100% higher than normal.

2.Sea freight to Amazon FBA

By sea, vast resources are moved between continents in standardized containers. This is the most popular and best method of transporting large loads due to the low cost of bulk shipments.

However, it is also the most complicated shipping method and takes a long time (about 25-40 days from China to a US port).

When to use sea freight?

If you are not in a hurry to order 2-3 cubic meters or more, or if your cargo exceeds 500 kg, you can use this shipping method, then sea freight is usually the best option.

For some low-value but very bulky products, such as plastic lunch boxes, wine bottles, wine glasses, etc., ocean shipping is the best shipping method, because if you choose express or air shipping, you may end up spending more money on shipping than you earn more profit. Additionally, you can ship products containing lithium batteries, liquids or powders (products that are prohibited from shipping by air).

3.Air freight to Amazon fba

By choosing this method of transportation, as in sea shipping, you will need to hire a freight forwarder to handle all the document preparations, customs clearance, taxes, and fees.

With this mode of transportation the delivery time is a few days longer than express shipping, and the total shipping cost will be 10%-20% lower than express.

When to use air freight?

Use this mode of transportation if you are in a hurry and your goods’ volume is over 1,000 lbs. (above 500 kgs).
No matter how small each shipment is, it will involve import processing fees, which will lead to higher costs than express shipping.

Therefore, if you goods’ volume is under 500 kg, express shipping and sea transportation are your best choices.
For both, express and airfreight, your freight cost will be calculated based on dimensional weight.

Amazon FBA box size restrictions, Amazon FBA has strict requirements on the appearance of goods. Therefore, each box of goods must be visually inspected for obvious damage and deformation before delivery and storage. If the outer packaging is damaged and deformed, and the label is blurred, it is recommended to deal with it immediately.

Origin label: FBA requires the national standard to be affixed on the outer box, and the national standard size is 4 square centimeters. The country of origin label is usually affixed to the upper right corner of the narrow side of each product carton

FBA label: The FBA label is the outer box identification of the product when it is received at Amazon’s warehouse. It consists of FBA information and Code 128 barcode. FBA tags are generated in the Amazon system. Usually there are 1, 4 or 6 FBA tags in a PDF in A4 layout.

  1. If the product in your box itself has exceeded 63.5cm (25 inches), such as LED lamps, plus some shock-proof protection facilities, you must use a 70cm box, in which case Amazon is allowed.
  2. If the product in the box does not exceed 63.5cm (25 inches), then Amazon FBA is not allowed in principle. The goods may be rejected and returned to the freight company in the same way; or the seller will be charged a certain additional fee after being signed by the warehouse staff.
  3. Boxes containing multiple standard-sized items must not exceed 25 inches in length on any side. If the box contains oversized items that are longer than 25 inches, the box may exceed the 25-inch limit.
  4. Oversized boxes with oversized items will be subject to shipment permission restrictions, additional charges or fulfillment center rejections.

Providing box content information improves Amazon inventory management and helps your products sell faster. It is important to provide carton content information and follow these guidelines:

Each crate can only contain inventory from one shipment ID. You may not combine items from multiple shipments in the same box. You can find the shipment number on the Shipment Summary page.
Make sure the shipment details listed in your seller account match the actual shipment to the fulfillment center:
Merchant SKU

  • Health status
  • Delivery amount
  • Packaging options (individually packaged or boxed)

If the weight exceeds 15kg, “Overweight” must be written on the top and side of the outer box.

Packages must be less than 50cm long x 60cm wide x 50cm high and weigh less than 30kg. If this requirement is not met, Amazon will not accept delivery.

The above requirements do not apply to oversized and overweight packages, but each package can only contain one item.

If the shipping box is provided by the manufacturer, the size requirement is an exception, but the box must be clearly identifiable as the manufacturer’s shipping box.

Amazon FBA Maximum Weight Rules For A Single Item

Each Amazon region has different rules for the maximum weight of a single item.

The maximum weight of the American station is 22.5 kg, the maximum weight of the European station is 15 kg, and the maximum weight of the Japanese station is 15 kg.

For shipments that exceed this weight standard, Amazon requires sellers to put a “Team Lift” label on the outer box, which is a “Multiple handling” label

For single shipments over 45kg in the United States and 30kg in Europe, sellers must affix the “Mech Lift” label, which is a “mechanical handling” label.

If you are looking for a professional to accompany you to ship your products to Amazon FBA or elsewhere, you can contact us, we have a huge professional network in China.

There are three main ways to ship your goods from China to the US/UK. They are: Express, Sea and Air. Shipping times, costs and complexities vary completely, depending on the method chosen. We’ll go over each method in detail so you can choose the one that works best for you.

1) The goods are shipped directly from your supplier in China to Amazon FBA.
2) The goods will be delivered to your home first, and then shipped to the Amazon warehouse.
3) The goods are shipped from China to a third-party company, and the third-party company ships them to Amazon FBA. This checks the goods for you and then ships them to the Amazon warehouse

When you ship products to an Amazon fulfillment center, you have three options:
1) Ship to Amazon FBA by carrier.
2) Ask your supplier to ship your product directly to Amazon
3) Option to ship with Amazon Partners through the Partner Program (Small Package Shipping and Amazon Europe Markets only).

After Amazon receives and scans your products, they are stored in the order processing center and your products are usually available for sale on Amazon within three business days. Your Amazon seller account allows you to view, monitor and (if applicable) track your shipments.

In order for your shipping to go smoothly, it’s important to prepare and label your products according to Amazon’s guidelines. Otherwise, Amazon may refuse to accept your shipment once it reaches its fulfillment center.

In practice, the shipping process from Alibaba to Amazon FBA is similar to all other cases. The only thing you need to be sure is that such items are marked according to Amazon rules.

After that, you need to use a brokerage service to clear customs and ship the goods to the desired fulfillment center (you can do this yourself, but we don’t recommend it).

However, you can’t just randomly ship hundreds of unbranded items on Amazon and wait for them to sell.If such an item has no history of selling on Amazon, it can take a lot of time and money.

Remember, an Amazon fulfillment center is more than just a warehouse. The company charges huge storage fees if your products are stored there forever.

Finally, keep in mind that your Alibaba products must comply with US trademark/patent laws.Unfortunately, many Alibaba suppliers have such problems with their items.
